Our new website is a work in progress. The idea is to create a less cluttered, more informative site. The majority of folks visiting are looking for event dates and places, and the photo gallery. Forthehounds is a 501(c) (3) non-profit ,sight hound rescue group, consisting of sight hound owners from South Carolina and surrounding states. Our Primary rescue effort is finding loving homes for retired racing Greyhounds. In addition we also have experience living with and placing other sight hounds such as Italian Greyhounds, whippets, and Borzoi’s.

Forthehounds officers and directors are Greyhound racing neutral.   

Racing Greyhounds adopted through our program are usually between eighteen months and five years old. These ex-racers are sensitive, intelligent, quiet, clean, good-natured, adaptable dogs who adjust readily to their new home environment.

All of our Greyhounds come from out of state. We have working relationships with trainers, other adoption organizations, kennels, and owners throughout the United States. We also rescue any sight hounds that are left in local shelters or owner surrender. Our first commitment is to former racers, but we would help any Greyhound or Sight hound in need. Any Sight hound adopted out by us is always welcome back if the adopters are no longer able to care for them.
